Securing the future of the cybersecurity ecosystem in Bahrain
Securing the future of the cybersecurity ecosystem in Bahrain
Eng. Nezar Banabeela, CEO, stc Bahrain
Cybersecurity threats are on the rise. More than 13 million email threats and almost 2 million URL victim attacks were detected and blocked across Bahrain last year. According to Trend Micro’s Annual Cybersecurity 2021 Report, enterprises will require better preparedness and future-proof strategies to protect digital environments against emerging threats across industries.
As we increasingly rely on hyperconnected servers to store our data, there is a growing need to protect sensitive information from data breaches and ransomware attacks. Globally, cybercrime will cost companies an estimated $10.5 trillion annually by 2025, up from $3 trillion in 2015 (https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/cybercrime-to-cost-the-world-10-5-trillion-annually-by-2025--301172786.html, n.d.).
At stc Bahrain, we have been monitoring the ongoing rise of cybersecurity threats and have been at the forefront of developing a range of solutions to mitigate the risk of attacks. We have launched a full array of managed cybersecurity services that include security monitoring and reporting via our state of the art localized SOC, web protect, a no-touch cyber security solution that safeguards businesses against malware, phishing, ransomware and botnets , Adding to the list is the DDoS protection that keeps businesses online against the threats of distributed cyberattacks.
Under the cyber security offering, our Consumer Security Solutions (CSC) monitors and provides recommended actions to mitigate the threats or provide mitigation steps for customers to act against the identified threats, ensuring the security and compliance of the critical IT assets.
As we recognize that cybersecurity attacks can have severe consequences, we believe in preventing the next attack with knowledge and preparedness. We have developed a Security Awareness program that offers short, comprehensive courses for corporations. The courses aim to empower corporate teams to build and maintain a culture of cyber awareness and vigilance, ensuring the safety of the employees and clients.
We have also offered seminars to the community under the theme of “Unleash your secure digital transformation with cybersecurity best practices.” We have organized the informative sessions to shed light on best practices to avoid threats and build an ecosystem of cyber security knowledge in Bahrain.
It is important that we work together to ensure a seamless transition to Bahrain’s digital transformation by providing the infrastructure, knowledge and tools to keep our data secure.
