The top 5 skills needed for the next wave of digital transformation in 2023

As we enter the new year, we are looking forward to the digital advancements that will take place in Bahrain and the region – whether it be in fintech, health-tech, agri-tech and more. Our role as a world-class digital enabler is to continue spearheading the Kingdom’s digital transformation through our initiatives, services, and programs to spur the next wave of innovation and boost the digital economy.

As part of our strategy, we launched the third edition of the Graduate Development Program, “jeel ICT” (jeel meaning generation) late last year. The program enables the youth in Bahrain to solidify their digital skills through a 12-month training program at stc Bahrain, where 10 talented trainees will be selected to become full-time employees.

At stc Bahrain, we recognize the importance of nurturing digital skills to enable a tech-savvy generation in the Kingdom that contributes to the growing economy. As such, we wanted to highlight the top 5 digital skills that are needed in 2023 and the upcoming years to meet the growing demand for an innovation-driven economy:

1. Data Science and Data Analytics

The world is increasingly relying on big data and data analytics in all sectors, and we are in a growing need for data scientists and analysts. Data analysts are able to assess and analyze the data for companies to act on large amounts of data that will be valuable to them. This skill is essential as corporations rely on data to manage their operations.

2. Coding

Tech products and digital services would not be possible without coding. Coding skills are in high demand because they rely on the technologies that have become an essential part of our daily lives. We will increasingly need coders to bring modern technologies to life and to create the digital solutions that we will utilize in the upcoming years.

3. Cybersecurity

As cyberattacks become more frequent, organizations and businesses need to focus more on protection to safeguard their digital assets. The cybersecurity industry will only continue to rise, and we will need more cybersecurity experts to tackle the ongoing challenge.

4. Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized industries, playing an increasingly important role in our lives. AI has the ability to automate many manual tasks and can be used across a variety of industries. This will be in high demand as consumers increasingly demand faster services.

5. Digital Marketing

Companies are increasingly relying on digital marketing to share their voice, products and services, and directly engage with their audience. Digital marketing has become on the rise as social media networking will continue to be one of the most widely consumed media for the modern-day consumer. Businesses and companies will be expected to have a presence and establish their voice by cutting through the noise.
